Resilience as a way of life.
At Never Stagnant Training, resilience isn't something you find on your own. It's built with someone in your corner, guiding you when life tries to slow you down.
Every workout, every stretch, moves you toward a life you can live without pain. Not just a stronger body, but one that keeps working the way it's supposed to. Because staying stagnant is never an option.
WHERE STRENGTH MEETS MOBILITY.
Strength and mobility shouldn't be treated as separate parts of training. At NST, strength training and assisted stretching complement each other to build strength, control, and usable range of motion around your individual goals.
Assisted Stretching
A practitioner-guided session that takes your body through a deeper, more controlled stretch than you could reach on your own, improving range of motion and easing tension built up between sessions. Available on its own, or paired directly with training.
Strength Training
Programming individualized to your body, experience, and goals, with an emphasis on technique, movement quality, and progressive strength development. Training is planned in phases and can range from foundational strength work to Olympic-style weightlifting, depending on your goals and experience.
The people behind the programming
Jalin Lyons
Founder & Head Trainer jalin.lyons@nsttrain.com"My coaching philosophy is built around program specificity, functional movement, and injury prevention. I sharpened that approach across six collegiate sports teams as an Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach at the University of Maryland, then as Personal Training Director & Master Trainer at LA Fitness Signature Club, where it helped me maintain a 60–70% client retention rate. I hold a B.S. in Exercise Science and Kinesiology and I'm a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and Certified Stretch Therapist, so strength and mobility have always been one program to me, not two services."

Jordy Diaz
Co-Founder, Operations & Partnerships jordy.diaz@nsttrain.com"I'm a competitive Olympic weightlifter and USA Weightlifting Level 1 Certified Coach who transitioned from powerlifting after a lower-back injury forced me to rethink how I train, using periodized programming to build strength safely toward each client's goals. That same injury is why I became a NASM Certified Stretching & Flexibility Coach: recovery and mobility aren't an afterthought in my programming, they're built into it from day one. Outside of fitness, I've spent years in nonprofit organizing and board leadership, the same experience I bring to running this business alongside Jalin's coaching."
- USA Weightlifting (USAW) Level 1 Certified Coach
- NASM Certified Stretching & Flexibility Coach
- Competitive lifter: No Matter What Open (Rosedale, MD), Old Dominion Classic (Richmond, VA)

Questions, answered
What to know about training, booking, and working with NST.
Is training individualized to me?
Yes. Programming is individualized to your body, your history, and your goals, and every session is planned in phases so progress is built deliberately, not guessed at.
What makes NST different from a traditional gym or stretching studio?
NST isn't a big-box gym or a single-service stretching studio. Coaching is built around the individual, whether private or in a small group, rather than a generic class format, and strength training and assisted stretching are both available in the same coaching relationship, used independently or together. Our trainers bring different, relevant coaching backgrounds, there's no membership or long-term contract required, and you communicate directly with the people actually training you.
What is assisted stretching, and how is it different from stretching on my own?
Assisted stretching is a coach-guided service: your trainer helps position and guide you through each stretch, rather than you stretching entirely on your own. That hands-on guidance can take you through a deeper, more controlled range of motion than most people reach stretching by themselves.
Why does NST combine strength training and assisted stretching?
Strength and mobility are related: assisted stretching can support usable range of motion and recovery, while strength training develops control, stability, and capacity. Each works well on its own, and many clients choose to combine both based on their goals.
Can I book assisted stretching without personal training?
Yes. Assisted stretching is available as its own standalone service: you don't need to book personal training to use it. Many clients pair the two, but it's not required.
Can I choose who I train with?
Yes, booking through Setmore lets you select a trainer. Jalin, NST's Founder & Head Trainer, brings his NASM Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) background, a B.S. in Exercise Science and Kinesiology, and Certified Stretch Therapist training, with deep experience in both strength training and assisted stretching. Jordy, Co-Founder, also trains strength clients and is a USA Weightlifting (USAW) Level 1 Certified Coach with a competitive Olympic weightlifting background. He brings that technical approach to broader strength development and offers dedicated Olympic-weightlifting-based coaching for clients who want it.
Do you work with student-athletes?
Yes. We work with student-athletes as part of our individualized strength and mobility programming.
Do you offer virtual, corporate, or small-group training?
Yes. Strength training and assisted stretching are both available in person at our Bethesda studio, and we also offer virtual coaching for strength and mobility work. Assisted stretching itself is hands-on, so it's in-studio only. We run on-site corporate wellness pilots as well, with virtual options for hybrid or remote teams, and coach small groups in strength training, stretching, or both.
How does booking work?
Private training and assisted stretching sessions are booked directly through our online scheduler, Setmore. Use any "Book Now" button on this page to see available times. Small group and corporate inquiries go through the contact form below so we can scope the details first.
